This is an event to commemorate the ‘Double Six’ tragedy in which some of the Sabah’s top leaders were killed in a plane crash on June 6, 1976. The event will take place at the Double Six Monument in Sembulan.

The crash killed everyone on board the flight, including Tun Fuad Stephens, the Chief Minister of Sabah at that time. Other Ministers killed in the crash were Datuk Peter Mojuntin (Local Government and Housing), Datuk Salleh Sulong (Finance Minister) Datuk Chong Thain Vun (Communication and Works Minister), Datuk Darius Binion (Finance Ministry permanent secretary), Datuk Wahid Andu, Dr Syed Hussein Wafa, assigned bodyguard Corp Mohd Said, Ishak Atan (Tengku Razaleigh’s personal secretary), pilot Capt Ghani Nathan and Fuad’s eldest son, Johari Stephens.
